CLAYTON, NC – March 7, 2015 — On Saturday, the Miss Clayton and Miss Capital City Scholarship Pageant Organization hosted a competitive and exciting event, culminating with the crowning of titleholders for the 2015 pageant season. Taking place at the Clayton Center in Historic Downtown Clayton, North Carolina, this was the first year for the Miss Clayton titles and sixth year of Miss Capital City. Over $2500 in cash scholarships were awarded, in addition to many in-kind offerings and partnerships for the coming year. Winners will go on to compete for the titles of Miss North Carolina and Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen in Raleigh in June 2015.
Kensley Leonard, promoting her platform “Behind the Screen: Cyberbullying in America Today,” was selected as the first ever Miss Clayton. In addition to the scholarship money, Kensley received the Congeniality award from her peers and was chosen by the judges for top scores in Swimsuit/Fitness and Talent. Kensley’s fundraising efforts earned her the Leadership award as well. Miss Clayton’s Outstanding Teen 2015, Lauren Walsh, is an advocate for “Spark the Flame, Encouraging Volunteerism.” Lauren earned an award for Leadership in her division, as well as the award for the highest score in Talent competition.
Kacy Lee, honoring “The Foundation for a Better Life,” earned the title of Miss Capital City 2015. Kacy’s scholarship money is accompanied by awards for top Talent score and a tie for Swimsuit/Fitness in the Miss Capital City competition. Her Outstanding Teen representing the Capital City is Kenzie Lyons, who volunteers with “Red Kettle Club benefitting the Salvation Army.” Judges also selected Kenzie for the top Lifestyle and Fitness honor in her division.
